Texas Bound
Hello, friends! I know that many of you recently got to see, meet and spend some time with our dear friends and leaders Pastor David and Joy Flanders from Souls Harbour, the church we serve in here in England. They had a wonderful time and brought back warm greetings and lots of hugs for us from many of you. But as wonderful as that was, we still prefer the ‘real thing’. So, we are super-excited to announce that following our last update, we have been tremendously blessed by an incredibly generous sponsor. As such, our upcoming visit to Texas is now definitely going to happen. HOORAY!!
It’s very humbling to be blessed so greatly, especially with the realization that there is little, if anything, we could ever do physically to repay such extreme kindness, and even expressing our deepest gratitude with words seems inadequate. But it’s kind-of like our salvation, isn’t it? God gives it to us freely, even though we could never repay Him nor do we even deserve it. Yet, it’s His amazing “gift” to us.
We will be back in Texas for just over two weeks - March 26 to April 11 - and our itinerary is jam-packed already! However, there are a few events we’d like to make you aware of and invite you along to join us if you can. We’re deeply honoured to have been asked to lead worship for the Crossing Church’s services on Sunday, April 7. Additionally, we will be having another UKFJ ministry update reception on Monday, April 8, for you to come along for a brief time of worship, to have “tea and a biscuit”,
ask us questions and hear all about what God is doing in our family and through UK for Jesus in England. We are also happy to announce that we’re arranging to have free childcare available during the reception. Event details are noted below.

We greatly appreciate your prayers as we prepare for travel and make the journey. We are involved in a lot here at Souls Harbour, so being away does require good planning to ensure all bases are covered. Additionally, since Brooklyn is in school now, we had to seek permission from the school for her to be away for a non-illness absence. Even though we'll be gone three full weeks (including travel and recovery time) we were able to match it up to her 2 week Easter/Spring school holidays, so she actually only misses the four days leading up to the break! Thankfully, approval was granted so we will begin our journey on Monday, March 25, which also happens to be Trevor's birthday! In the interest of fun-fact sharing, here's what it takes to get from here to there.
- 1 hour car ride from Camelford to the bus station in Exeter
- 4 hour bus ride from Exeter to Heathrow Airport bus station in London
- 15-30 minute ride to hotel near airport
- ...zzzzzzzzzz... (sleeping)
- 15-30 minute ride back to airport (at least 2 hours before the flight, of course)
- 9.5 to 10.5 hour flight from London to Houston
On the way back to Camelford, we skip the overnight stay in London since we arrive in London by plane early in the morning and have time to get back to the bus station in Exeter by mid-afternoon/early-evening. Needless to say, after having lived just a few miles up the road from an International Airport all our lives, all of this extra travel before and after the actual flight has taken some getting used to. However, we view each opportunity to make the trip as an extra-special blessing and enjoy every moment! :0)
Blessings to you all and thank you so much for your continued prayer, encouragement and financial support for our family and UK for Jesus (click here for our 2013 prayer targets). We can’t wait to see all of our Texas peeps! Brooklyn is especially excited - she is counting down the days and has already chosen and set aside the toys she wants to bring along for the journey!
With joyful and grateful hearts,
- Connie, Trevor & Brooklyn (UK for Jesus)
You can have that Louisiana meal anytime you want when you get back!
God is so GOOD! Can’t wait to hug you & hear all about your adventures!!!
SOOOO glad you guys are getting to come “home” for a little while. Wish we could see you, but know what it’s like in these situations. You all will be in our prayers. I can only imagine the excitement friends & family must be feeling! Love you!!
Safe journey & Gods blessing for you all. I know your families are excited about having you here. Faye can talk of nothing else. She is so proud of you (all three). Hope to see you in April.
